Commenting

I am in the process of organizing my room. There are so many files that I created last year that need to maintained and organized. But as always, I am prone to a bit of side distractions. So, I now find myself on my blog, wondering how I can have students post to my blog in a way that makes everyone happy (ie. fun, safe, appropriate). I switched a few of my settings, but I am still unsure as to what I actually switched. If you visit my site and would comment that would be really helpful. Then, I will know if I made the right changes! Two weeks of summer left!!

Initial Post...Playing with Technology

This summer I am learning more than I know what to do with! And I am loving it. My intial vision is to create a blog community for my classroom. My site will be a place that posts quotes, writing prompts, reflections and other resources for my students. My hope is that they will create their own blog, strictly for English class, where they will explore ideas in an academic forum. Instead of accumulating paper clutter, we will have our thoughts published on the web for a selected group of people to view. We will also create an archive of our written work from the school year. This could be a place where other staff, administrators and parents could experience the improving voices of our room. There will be technological norms that as a classroom we WILL consistenty practice (these will follow in the next post).

I am hoping that this forum will increase writing. I hope that it will create a real, authentic audience for my students. Increasingly, as we write, they will learn in genuine ways what it means to write for an audience. I hope this is a space where students can share their inner voices.
